FUNDACIÓN VISIÓN SERVING THE COMMUNITY

The department of community health serves the community in several different locations of the country through Programa Visión, the intention being to overcome economic and geographic barriers to care for patients with eye conditions.

This program does not benefit from national or private financial assistance, for which reason the economic contributions from the patients and the community are necessary to cover the expenses of patient transport, medical supplies, equipment rental, etc.
We regularly visit six places in the country that are quite distant from Asuncion. We visit another 15 places in response to requests from the communities.  The visits happen mainly in the neighborhoods on the outskirts of Asuncion and are targeted at people over the age of sixty.  The objective is to find people with cataracts in order to offer them surgery and heal their blindness.  As a result, these people can be useful to themselves and others.
